Visual Confirmation Techniques

→Use color Doppler to distinguish vessels from bowel (vessels show flow, bowel doesn't)
→Confirm psoas by asking patient to flex hip - muscle contracts and changes appearance
→Trace iliac vessels from external iliac to common iliac to confirm identity
→Look for appendix 'sliding sign' - moves independently from surrounding structures with gentle compression
→Document all four landmarks in your report even if appendix not visualized
